The Studio debuts June 16th in McMinnville

May 31, 2014 | Blog

After seven years of operating a satellite studio, Chehalem Valley Dance Academy is thrilled to open up our very own space in McMinnville. The Studio, located at 206 NE Evans Street in the heart of downtown Mac, will house CVDA and 4 Elements. As you read this, renovations are well underway to transform the former bookstore into a sleek and classic studio. Come on, let’s take a tour……

Signs are up!

The Lobby

Upon entering the main door on Evans Street, you’ll step into a well-appointed and functional lobby. The lobby will feature a reception area, homework bar with stools (and Wi Fi!), and two dressing rooms. We’ll stock basic dancewear such as tights, ballet shoes, hair accessories, and Foot Undeez, saving you a trip to All Star Dancewear in Newberg. If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we’ll deliver it the next day. How convenient!

Studio A

Situated right off the lobby, studio A is an expansive 726 square feet. Two walls of windows add an abundance of natural light. They’ll be framed by airy sheers unless there is a class going on. Then we’ll draw our black curtains for focus and privacy. The north and east-facing walls are lined with mirrors and the south and west-facing walls are equipped with a ballet barre. A stereo cabinet accommodates the electronics and speakers.

Studio B

Located east of studio A, the two studios are connected by a door. At 374 square feet, studio B is cozier but delivers in a big way. There are windows and an exterior door to 2nd Street on the south wall, and mirrors on the east and west walls. Two restrooms and an ample storage closet (where we’ll stock our dancewear items) are accessible through studio B. A stereo cabinet and barre mats and supply storage round out studio B.

Sprung floor ready for the next step

The Floors

We’ve made a strategic investment by installing a thatched, floating grid floor for The Studio. These thick, sprung floors reduce the likelihood of injury and are engineered for permanence – up to 20 years! The custom Marley floor overlay surface resists marks and scrapes (from tap shoes) and sports a special “grip” ideal for ballet and jazz dancing. Another benefit of Marley floors? They’re portable! Conceivably, we can transport them to performances (i.e. a future showcase located in McMinnville?).

The Aesthetic

Cool, clean, and crisp lines with white walls, black floors and gray accents evoke a  modern aesthetic that elevates. We’re striving for a serene and classic environment that allows our dancers to focus and learn without distractions. Thoughtfully designed, the goal is for an uncluttered space that inspires creative expression!
