Sieze the summer and dance with CVDA

Jun 10, 2015 | Blog, News and Events

Here at Chehalem Valley Dance Academy, we’re still basking in the joy and success of our 19th Annual Showcase 2 weeks ago…..and we’re already looking forward to a jam-packed summer of dance.

CVDA offers a full schedule of dance classes at all levels and genres at both the McMinnville and Newberg locations, as well as tons of fun dance camps to choose from. Here we answer some commonly asked questions:

What’s the main difference between classes and camps?

Classes are held on a set time and day consistently throughout the summer. The focus is on developing technique in a particular genre. They are similar to the classes held during the school year, but without the pressure to learn a full routine for Showcase. Classes begin June 22nd. Click here for our summer class schedule at McMinnville or Newberg.

Dance camps typically last for 3-5 days for a block of 2-3 hours and are focused on a particular theme. CVDA offers a variety of themes based on age and interest. Dancers may work toward a goal or performance at a community event at the culmination of the camp.

Should I enroll in classes, a camp or both?

Performing Company members are required to take summer classes. We encourage all dancers to take class(es) throughout the summer in order to continue growth, but understand that conflicts can occur. We do our best to accommodate travel plans and offer make up classes.

Dance camps are a fantastic opportunity to participate in something new and different, to challenge yourself, and of course, have a lot of FUN. There is a camp for every dancer! The CVDA staff hopes you are able do both classes and camps.

Advanced technique camps include Jumps and Turns Intensives, level 1 and 2, and Handsprings and Flips Camp.

We are excited to present a brand new camp this summer, the CVDAerial Flyers Camp, for ages 7-11 and 12 and up.
