The time is coming!  Nutcracker Auditions are just around the corner.  We are auditioning dancers age 8 and up for many roles in our benefit production December 2013.

Print the application and submit it in the office, by mail, or when you arrive for auditions.

Cost to audition is $10 and covers the cost of the panel of judges.

Intermediate Ballet Ages 8 and up 11:30am – 1:00pm $35

Pre-Requisite is 2 or more years of ballet, age 8 and up,

and currently enrolled in ballet class at a local dance studio.

Advanced Ballet Ages 12 and up 1:00 – 2:30pm $35

Pre-Requisite is 3 or more years of ballet, age 12 and up,

and currently enrolled in ballet class at a local studio.

Director approval required.

Pointe 2:30 – 3:30pm $25

Pre-requisite is at least 1 year en pointe, have pointe shoes in good condition,

and currently be enrolled in pointe and ballet classes at a local studio.

Director approval required.

Take 2 classes and get $10 off.  Take all 3 classes for $75 ($20 off).

Our show was a huge success!  We sold out our Sunday show and had great audiences at the other 2 shows on Saturday.  We didn’t QUITE reach our goal of $10,000 but we sure had a blast doing what we love for a great cause!  Thank you to all who attended.

The Chehalem Valley Dance Academy presents a full-length production of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, on Saturday December 15^th at 2:00pm and 6:30pm, and Sunday December 17th at 2:00pm.   Last year we raised $7,500 and this year’s goal is $10,000.  Local dancers’ talents will be highlighted by beautiful costumes, sets, and props.  Classical and modern interpretations of choreography will dazzle audience members of all ages.  CVDA’s goal is to enrich the community’s existing holiday traditions and raise funds and awareness for three wonderful local charities F.I.S.H.,  Love, INC. and Faith In Action.  This production will give the participants an opportunity to further their growth as dancers as well as experience in giving back to their community first hand.  Tickets will be $9 for adults and $6 for students/children/senior citizens and the show will be held at Newberg High School’s Auditorium.   Event sponsorships are available starting at $25.  Sponsorships help cover the cost of producing the show so the maximum ticket sales can be donated to charity.  For more information contact:  office@iheartcvda.com or 503.537.3902.  Support your local business, youth and charities by attending the CVDA performance of  The Nutcracker.

Bring-A-Friend Form

Bring – A – Friend Week is a great time to share what you have been doing all year with a friend!  They get to come take class with you and experience all that you do including warm-up, stretches, across the floor, a fun combo, and even see your dance that you’ve been working on!

Friends need to wear athletic clothes and be prepared for fun!

No friends in Performing Company classes. No parents or dads in class as friends.

Dancers that take the summer off from weekly classes will find when they return in the fall that they have lost a lot of their flexibility, stamina, endurance, muscle memory, and execution of technical elements like jumps and turns.   They may also be at the bottom of their class if the rest of their classmates took class all summer.

Summer session classes are a great way to improve your ability quickly.  Without the need to learn choreography for a show, teachers are free to focus on technique and develop dancer’s individual strengths.  Summer is a great time to try a new class, get serious, or improve overall health and wellness through dance training.
